General navigation hints

After logging on, the app displays the contents of the “Food diary” tab as default. You can find all available tabs at the top of the screen:
·         Food diary: shows a complete list of daily food consumption incl. all details
·         Activity diary: shows a complete list of daily activities
·         Eat: allows you to select food and add it to your daily diary; allows you to add new food to the database; allows you to delete food from the database which you have previously added; allows you to edit nutritional values for foods; allows you to mark / unmark and filter your favourite food list
·         Add activity: allows you to add physical exercise to your daily diary
·         History: shows a history of your weight and points consumed / allowed over time
The consumed and allowed points are calculated and updated automatically based on the selected points system and the result is displayed in some tabs right beneath the tab menu. Red shows consumed points while green means available points, for both daily and weekly values.
In some areas of the app, you can find blue swipe buttons at the bottom of the screen. They move you forward or backward in the current list or diary you are in.
The menu is context sensitive and offers you those functions which are available for the current screen.

If you are already a registered user, type your name into the login field on the first page and tap on the field “Tap to login”.
If you are logging in the first time, click on the blue person symbol with a green plus sign. You will be taken to a series of login pages on which you need to specify details. The first login screen asks about your name, whether you want to use the metrical or imperial system, if you prefer the traditional WW points plan or the new PointsPlus system and whether you want to use the app in order to lose or rather maintain your weight. On the next screen, you can select your gender (female, nursing mother, male) and set your birthday. The third screen defines your current weight and height as well as your primary daily activities. The choice given reg. usage of activity points (daily or weekly basis) relates to the PointsPlus plan only. It specifies whether you want to use activities (sports, any kind of physical exercise) to increase your allowed points for the current day of the activity or rather for the weekly points during the current week.

Change basic settings

In order to change your basic login settings like weight or activity points calculation method, simply go to the menu when starting the app. For further details look up login instructions.

Select food from database

To select food (to add to your diary, i.e. daily consumption), chose the “Eat” tab. You can type in the food which you want to add in the entry field. As you type, a food list showing all available entries matching your text will appear. You can simply scroll through this list and select any food you like at any point in time. The more letters you type into the field, the shorter this list will get.
When you switch on the funnel symbol next to the entry field, the displayed list will only show food which you have previously marked as “favourite”.
In order to mark or unmark a food as your favourite, simply click on the star symbol above the entry field once you have typed in and selected a food. It will automatically add or remove this food item to / from your favourite list. So if you add a particular food as favourite by clicking on the star symbol, this food will show up in the favourite list when you select a food with the funnel symbol next time. Building up and using a favourite list helps you to quickly find and select frequently consumed foods.
When you press on the pen symbol after you have typed in and selected a food, it gets you to the next screen where you can change the nutritional values for this food incl. calories, fat, fiber, proteins and carbohydrates. Tap on the “Tap to save” area to save your entries.
When clicking on the red cross symbol once you have typed in and selected a food, it allows you to delete this food from the food list. Only food which has been added by you (i.e. does not come out of the predefined list) can be deleted.
In order to add the chosen food to your diary, first select the portion size and then click on the “Tap to add” area. You will get to a next screen showing you the current nutritional values for the selected food. You can change these values if what you have eaten does not perfectly match what is in your list. Using “Tap to save” adds the food to your diary. The allowed daily and weekly points are updated automatically.

Add food to database

To add a new food to the food list in the database, chose the “Eat” tab. You can type in the food which you want to add in the entry field. As you type, a food list showing all available entries matching your text will appear. Make sure you don’t select any item from this list since you want to create a new one. Press on the “Tap to add” area to be taken to the next screen.
There you can set the nutritional values for this food incl. calories, fat, fiber, proteins and carbohydrates. Tap on the “Tap to save” area to save your entries. You will be taken back to the previous screen while your food name will remain displayed in the entry field. If you press the “Tap to eat” area, this food will be added to your diary. If you don’t want this (i.e. don’t consume the food right now), simply continue with other features of the app.

Enter an activity

To enter an activity, chose the “Add activity” tab. Enter the activity which you want to add to your diary into the entry field. Then, define the activity’s intensity and duration. When you press on “Tap to save”, the activity is added to your diary and your available points will be recalculated. If you have selected the daily activity points option in the settings, your daily allowance will increase accordingly. If you have chosen the weekly activity points option in the settings, only the weekly allowance will be updated.

Check your food diary

If you want to get an overview of what you have eaten today or on any other particular day, you can chose the “Food diary” tab. You can see there the complete list of all foods which you have previously added to your diary (i.e. have consumed). Using the swipe arrows at the bottom of the screen changes the day in your diary and you can use them to move up and down the calendar. If you press on any food in the list, you get a submenu offering you a star (favourites), a list (details) and a red cross (delete).
The star can be pressed to mark a food as being one of your favourites, in which case it is automatically added to your favourites list (for further details on how to use the favourite list also check “Select food from database”).
The list opens a new screen displaying the portion size, the number of portions you have eaten and the associated points consumed. Pressing the “Tap area” brings you back to the diary. Using the swipe arrows at the bottom of the screen shows you details for all other foods in your diary for that particular day, i.e. you can scroll up and down the details of your food list without returning to the diary overview.
The red cross deletes the food from your diary. All daily and weekly points will be recalculated accordingly.
You can also mark / unmark a food on the list by tapping on the star symbol displayed directly in the list (instead of opening the submenu for a particular food).

Check your activity diary

If you want to get an overview of your daily activities, you can chose the “Activity diary” tab. You can see there the complete list of all activities which you have previously added to your diary. Using the swipe arrows at the bottom of the screen changes the day in your diary and you can use them to move up and down the calendar. If you press on any activity in the list, you get a submenu offering you a list (details) and a red cross (delete).
The list opens a new screen displaying the duration and intensity of your activity. Pressing the “Tap area” brings you back to the diary. Using the swipe arrows at the bottom of the screen shows you details for all other activities in your diary for that particular day, i.e. you can scroll up and down the details of your activity list without returning to the diary overview.
The red cross deletes the activity from your diary. All daily and weekly points will be recalculated accordingly.

Check your history

To view your history with the WO app, click on the History tab. You will get to a screen where you can select to see either the weight history or the points allowed vs. points consumed data. In either case, a graphical line is displayed with the option to set the tracking period.
